WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE? Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

This is a very difficult subject to talk about.  There are countless Bible verses that tell us to judge and to NOT judge.  How do we know when to or NOT to judge? Well the fact is we never decide who receives or does not receive salvation. Salvation is of the Lord alone. A Christians job is to take HIS message to ALL people. This is were it gets tricky.  The message is a judgment of God to those who don’t REPENT and Believe the good news, but it is also a message of peace to those that REPENT and Believe the good news. God is the one who judges, but he sends us to do it in light of His Word. John 12:47-49

47 “As for the person who hears My words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48 There is a Judge for the one who rejects Me and does not accept My words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him AT THE LAST DAY.

So we should be warning people of a “future” judgment. Now the “people” I am referring to here are those “outside” the church.  Now when dealing with these people they need to know why God is going to Judge them. The answer is SIN of course. What is sin? Disobedience to God’s laws. So we use God’s laws to show them just how they have sinned. Are they going to feel judged? Only if God’s Spirit is working and convicting their hearts. Should we be afraid of that? Not if we “truly” want to see them saved! Stay faithful to the message please. The “Good News” can’t come unless the “Bad News” comes first. That’s how God judges those outside the church.

What about those inside the church? This is where it gets even more confusing, at least for me anyway. We have scriptures that tell us not to judge our brothers and sisters anymore like in: Rom 14:10

10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.

Well if you take the time to go over my work like you should, and see this verse in context, you will find Paul is talking about trivial things like what we eat and drink. But when it comes to morality and sound teaching or doctrine this is what Paul says about that:1 Cor 5:11-13

11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.”

I can go on forever on this topic, so I hope you have gotten the “idea” behind “JUDGING OTHERS”. Thanks for your time and here is our prayer for you: Phil 1:9-11

…that your love may abound more and more IN KNOWLEDGE and DEPTH OF INSIGHT, 10 so that you may be able TO DISCERN what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.

Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Mark 9:24 “LORD, I BELIEVE; HELP MY UNBELIEF!”

WHEN DID IT BECOME SALVATION BY FAITH, THROUGH GRACE?

Isa 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord…

There are many controversies in the church today and one of them is about election.  We understand the struggle that goes on because of this, most are just confused but we must put our feelings aside and look to the “Author and Finisher of our faith”,   the infallible and unchangeable word of God, namely Jesus Christ. Of course we look to Him BY FAITH, according to the unchangeable truth as it has been taught in the scriptures. The question is are we commanded to “Believe” on Christ to be saved? If it is a command, doesn’t that make it a work? No one questions that we must believe. However we must question “HOW” we came to believe. Those that say we are saved by faith alone always refer back to the faith of Abraham. Did anyone ever go back and look to see HOW he came to faith? Lets look back together in:Gen 12:1-3

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Can you answer the question according to the text here? Did Abram seek The Lord by faith or did God come to Abram and give him a command to perform? If we are honest, God came to Abram first. Why Abram? Why not Haran or Nahor? They were all idolaters/sinners.  God just choose someone to love and it happened to be Abram. God revealed Himself to Abram and then Abram believed God’s word and obeyed His word. That is Grace and Grace ALONEIT HAS ALWAYS BEEN BY GRACE AND GRACE THROUGH FAITH ALONE!!

Rom 11:5-6
5 Even so then, “AT THIS PRESENT TIME” there is a remnant according to the “election” OF GRACE. 6 And if BY GRACE, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But IF it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

When Paul teaches us in Romans 1:17 to live by faith, he is talking about the result of our conversion to Christ. So he is only talking about a “piece” of the WHOLE picture of salvation. This should not even be an issue in the “true” church. Waring and fighting against it would only show a person’s unbelief. However if you are fighting the “good fight of faith” that was “once for all delivered” to the church, that is to say your fighting FOR the faith and not against the faith, then faith is the “EVIDENCE” of the things unseen. So faith is always the result and NEVER THE SOURCE of our salvation. This truth of Christ should not cause us to war against Him, but to cling and embrace His grace all the more.  Our faith in Him should increase and not decrease, unless of course you never believed in the first place and if that is the case, repent of your idol and trust Christ alone. Faith is a wonderful gift of grace that God gives to whom He chooses and he did this BEFORE anyone did anything good or bad. That it why His grace is so “AMAZING”. Cry out to the Lord Christ “BY THE SPIRIT” of grace whom the Father has set His love and favor on. Please STOP limiting the “Power” of the gospel and the atonement of Christ by saying he died for the whole world. He didn’t die for the whole world. If he died for the whole world they would be saved. He died FOR THOSE that will believe on Him and the “Power” that raised Him from the dead is sufficient to raise His elect from the deadness in sin and from the death of their mortal bodies. If we are “dead” in sin. Can we resurrect ourselves by faith? No, certainly not! We can’t resurrect ourselves anymore than we can resurrect someone else. But the Holy Spirit along side the gospel of Jesus Christ can and will when He chooses too. He comes and goes where ever He pleases[JOHN 3:8]. Does that “LIMIT” the power of the gospel? Absolutely not! But it does “LIMIT” WHO receives it.

Lord we pray this truth doesn’t turn our hearers away, but that they run and not walk to the cross of Your Son Jesus Christ. Lord right where they sit, I pray Your Spirit is moving and shaking their faith into a direction of making “Peace” with You. I pray they “fix” their eyes on Your ONE and ONLY Son, Jesus Christ. My prayer is that the idols in their heart are being torn down and replaced with a new heart and a new spirit that is transformed back into the image and likeness of Your Son as He has been revealed in the Scriptures and BY THE FATHER IN HEAVEN. Amen

Matt 16:17

17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Jude 3-4

3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to CONTEND EARNESTLY for “THE FAITH” which was “ONCE FOR ALL” delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:13-17

13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”   15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always “BE READY” to give a “DEFENSE” to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

FREE WILL VS. GOD’S SOVEREIGN CHOICE ACCORDING TO THE “SCRIPTURES”

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ONE OF GOD’S ELECT?

“TROUBLE MAKERS” OR “PEACE MAKERS”

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

THE QUESTION TODAY IS, ARE CHRISTIANS TO BE “PEACE MAKERS” OR “TROUBLE MAKERS”?

There answer is quite simple if we look at scripture:

Matt 5:9 Blessed are the “PEACEMAKERS”, for they will be called sons of God.

James 3:18 And the “fruit of righteousness” is sown in PEACE of “THEM” that MAKE PEACE.

Now there is another question, WHO are the peacemakers? According to Rom 10:15:

……”How beautiful are the feet “OF THOSE” who preach “THE GOSPEL OF PEACE”, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

What is the “Gospel” then?  The “apostle” Paul gives us a summary here in :1 Cor 15:1-6

15 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, IF you HOLD FAST “THAT WORD” which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all THAT WHICH I ALSO RECEIVED: that Christ died for our sins according to “THE SCRIPTURES”, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to “THE SCRIPTURES”, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

The answer is “The WORD OF GOD” and this is what the “apostle” Paul said also about it in: Gal 1:6-12

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who “trouble” you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if WE, OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if ANYONE preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me IS NOT ACCORDING TO MAN. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through “THE REVELATION” of Jesus Christ.

So there is ONLY ONE Gospel and any other just causes trouble. So those who hold fast to “doctrine as it has been taught” in “Scripture” are the “ONES” who bring “PEACE”.  However, it will only bring peace to “those” that will believe, the unbelieving will reject and create their own and this is what Paul has told us about them: Rom 16:17-20

17 I appeal to you, brothers, to WATCH OUT for those who cause divisions and create obstacles “contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught”; AVOID THEM. 18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. 19 For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. 20  The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

HERE IS A QUICK QUOTE FROM THE LATE-GREAT-SPURGEON

And now, for the good of the Church itself, I want you all to “hold fast the form of sound words.” Would you wish to see the Church prosperous? Would you wish to see it peaceful? Then “hold fast the form of sound words.” What is the cause of divisions, schisms, quarrels, and bickerings amongst us? It is not the fault of the truth; it is the fault of the errors. There would have been peace in the Church, entire and perpetual peace, if there had been PURITY.

A Sermon “Form of Sound Words“(No. 79) Delivered on Sabbath Morning, May 11, 1856, by the REV. C. H. Spurgeon At New Park Street Chapel, Southwark.

Day 17   MORNING AND EVENING BY C. H. SPURGEON

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Matthew 5:9

This is the seventh of the beatitudes: and seven was the number of perfection among the Hebrews. It may be that the Saviour placed the peacemaker the seventh upon the list because he most nearly approaches the perfect man in Christ Jesus. He who would have perfect blessedness, so far as it can be enjoyed on earth, must attain to this seventh benediction, and become a peacemaker. There is a significance also in the position of the text. The verse which precedes it speaks of the blessedness of “the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” It is well to understand that we are to be “FIRST PURE, then peaceable.” Our peaceableness is never to be a compact with sin, or toleration of evil. We must set our faces like flints against everything which is contrary to God and His holiness: purity being in our souls a settled matter, we can go on to peaceableness. Not less does the verse that follows seem to have been put there on purpose. However peaceable we may be in this world, yet we shall be misrepresented and misunderstood: and no marvel, for even the Prince of Peace, by His very peacefulness, brought fire upon the earth. He Himself, though He loved mankind, and did no ill, was “despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” Lest, therefore, the peaceable in heart should be surprised when they meet with enemies, it is added in the following verse, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Thus, the peacemakers are not only pronounced to be blessed, but they are compassed about with blessings. Lord, give us grace to climb to this seventh beatitude! Purify our minds that we may be “FIRST PURE, then peaceable,” and fortify our souls, that our peaceableness may not lead us into cowardice and despair, when for Thy sake we are persecuted.

DOES JOHN 3:16 REFUTE SOVEREIGN ELECTION?

John 3:16-18
16 “For God so loved “the world” that He gave His One and ONLY Son, that whoever “BELIEVES” in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son INTO the world to condemn the world, but to save “the world” through Him. 18 Whoever BELIEVES” in Him is not condemned, BUT whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s One and ONLY Son.

Where are you going when your body dies?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Your personal preference may not be rap music, but we can be “all things to all people”1 Cor 9:22
if we stay true to the original gospel message. We believe this short film to be an accurate word picture of the “judgment” to come. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment… So we can rejoice when the Gospel is preached. Enjoy the short film.

Part 1

After you are dead?

(J. R. Miller, “Devotional Hours with the Bible”)

Did you ever sit down quietly and seriously consider where you will be, and what you will be–after you are dead?

“It is appointed for people to die once–and and after that, to face judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

“Then the King will say to those on His right: Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!” Matthew 25:34

“Then He will also say to those on the left: Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!” Matthew 25:41

Part 2

In the midst of all the wild scene–Stephen fell asleep!

(J. R. Miller, “
Stephen the First Martyr“)

“When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him! But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look!” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:54-60

To Stephen, dying was only breathing out his soul into the hands of Jesus Christ! He knew it was not death–but life, which was before him. His body was being mangled and broken–but his spirit, his real self, could not be harmed. Beyond the strange mystery of death–Jesus waits to receive the departing spirit. Death is only a gateway through which the soul passes–and then life and glory burst upon the vision of the emancipated spirit!

Very beautiful is the picture of death which is given here: “He fell asleep.” Sleep is death’s new, sweet name! What a picture of peace the word suggests, right here in the heart and fury of the mob! In the midst of all the wild scene–Stephen fell asleep!

We think of a tired child creeping into the mother’s bosom and falling asleep. Sleep is not a terrible experience; it is nothing to be dreaded. We sleep when we are weary–and we awake refreshed. Sleep is not the cessation of life. We expect to awake, after we have slept. As we part for the night, we do not say, “Farewell,” but “Goodnight,” for we expect to meet again in the morning.

This beautiful Scriptural designation of death tells us, therefore, of life beyond, of resurrection, of immortality. We shall awake from this sleep of death–and our life shall go on again. We shall awake refreshed, lying down weary–and rising strong; lying down sick, or old, or deformed, or worn-out–and rising well, young and radiant in heavenly beauty!

James 4:1-10

4 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?   6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

‘THE LION AND THE LAMB’

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Many of us have heard the phrase, “the lion shall lay down with the lamb”, however this phrase is nowhere to be found in the Bible.  Nevertheless the “concept” most certainly does. Lets look at it together.

Isa 11-12

The Reign of Jesse’s Offspring(Isa 9:1-7)

11 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; 4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
6 “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.”
11 It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
12 He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth. 13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, And Judah shall not harass Ephraim. 14 But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; Together they shall plunder the people of the East; They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab; And the people of Ammon shall obey them. 15 The Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt; With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River, And strike it in the seven streams, And make men cross over dryshod. 16 There will be a highway for the remnant of His people Who will be left from Assyria, As it was for Israel In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt.
A Hymn of Praise
12 And in that day you will say:
O Lord, I will praise You;Though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me. 2 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid;’For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’”
3 Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day you will say:
“Praise the Lord, call upon His name;Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. 5 Sing to the Lord, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”

The context is referring to the “Millennial” reign of Jesus Christ. At present we live in a world that is surrounded with death and suffering, terror attacks, earthquakes, tsunamis, poverty, famine, and much worse things. With all these things in view, how do we get a positive perspective? Well, if you are following Jesse’s Offspring(Jesus Christ) then you are on a “narrow” path to Heaven. We must fix our eyes on Him. He alone can guide us through the trials of this world. He has already told us the ending and His followers will be the only ones who enter this Millennial reign and for that matter the “New heaven and New earth”
So together lets fix our eyes on Jesus the “Prize” of Heaven. May The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

Luke 21:28
28 Now when these things BEGIN to happen, LOOK UP AND LIFT UP YOUR HEADS, BECAUSE your redemption draws near.”

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”

Welcome our beloved friends and hearers. LTWM is committed to protecting Christ’s sheep.
There are many with in the Church of Christ that are afraid to criticize and challenge the faith of a “professing” believer. Not all who profess Christ, received Christ. So this page is dedicated to exposing the “unfruitful deeds of darkness” of those who “claim” to be apart of Christ’s Church. So we ask you to leave your preconceived “ideas” about the Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures, because we are in a war with the devil and his minions. We are taking every thought captive to the Word of God.(2 Cor. 10:5) Our goal is “constructive” criticism and our prayer is to see any individual involved in this movement to come to “repentance” and receive the forgiveness that Christ offers. So we are reminded and want to remind you what the “apostle” Paul wrote to the Ephesian Church…. Eph 5:8-14

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is “acceptable” to the Lord. 11 And have NO fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather EXPOSE them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest BY THE LIGHT, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:

Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light
.”

Phil 1:9-11

9 And this is my prayer: that YOUR LOVE may abound more and more in KNOWLEDGE and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to DISCERN what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — TO THE GLORY AND PRAISE OF GOD.

Their religion was all a pious farce!

(J. R. Miller, “Devotional Hours with the Bible”)

Go to Bethel and sin! Go to Gilgal and sin yet more! Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years. Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings–boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do!” declares the Sovereign LORD. Amos 4:5-6

Go to Bethel and sin!” cried the prophet. Bethel was their place of worship–but every time they came there, they sinned because their worship was sin. Instead of bowing before the true God and adoring Him, they bowed before idols and gave them the honor which belonged to God alone. The more devout they were, therefore, the more they dishonored the Lord. Their great zeal, as shown in their sacrifices and tithes and free-will offerings, only multiplied their sin and heaped up sorer judgment against them!

Their religion was all a pious farce, and the more there was of it–the more of an abomination it was unto God. God cannot be pleased with mere forms of worship and with ceremonials. The more we multiply these, the more do we grieve Him–if our heart is not in them.

We may say that we have no idols now in our churches; but are we sure of this? Do we truly worship God in our church services? When we sing the hymns–are our hearts fixed upon God? When we prayare we really talking to God? When we confess sinsis the confession sincere? When we sit in God’s house–are we truly in God’s presence, breathing out our heart’s love and worship to Him? If not, what or whom are we adoring, praising, worshiping? Empty religious forms–must have some idol at the heart of them!

The prophet told them very plainly what was in their hearts. “This is what you love to do!” You love this! You love to make a great display in your religion. This display of piety–is just to your taste. You like to cover up your sins–with forms of worship, appearing as saints before the world, though in secret cherishing and practicing all manner of wickedness!

This is God’s own picture of these ancient ‘worshipers’. We need to look honestly at it–to see if it is OUR picture. God looks at the heart! No external appearances are of any value–unless they are genuine expressions of what is in the heart! Pirate ships carry reputable flags–to cover their dishonorable character. Religious hypocrisy often puts at its masthead, the colors of devout saintliness. But God cannot be deceived.

Heb 12:1-2

12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the “Author” and “Finisher” of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
