WHAT IF…

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

13Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:13-17

Please watch this video carefully…

What were you thinking as you watched this video?

A more serious question: What would have happened to you if you would have been in any number of the near death situations in this video and you died?

What if… you were the guy who flew off your motorbike but the bike took your head off and you died instantly? What would happen to you? Where would you go? Ever thought about it?

What if… when you die you awake immediately in the throne room of Almighty God for judgment? What would you do?

27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” Hebrews 9:27

11Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds” Revelation 20:11-12

What if… on that day you realize that God knows everything you have ever thought, said, and done?

What if… even the things done in private came to light?

“…for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts”

1 Chronicles 28:9

1O LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. 3You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.” Psalm 139:1-3

“…according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus” Romans 2:16

13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” Hebrews 4:13

What if… God’s eyes are too righteous to look upon evil with pleasure?

13Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor”

Habakkuk 1:13

What if… you could defend yourself? What would you say?

19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” Romans 3:19

What if… the judgment standard was the Ten Commandments? Would you be guilty of breaking the Law?

1. “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.Is God first in your life? Do you love God above all else? The Bible says that we should so love God that our love for everything else in life, even our loved ones should seem like hatred compared to the love we have for the God who gave those loved ones to us. The first commandment requires us to know and recognize God to be the only true God, and to worship and glorify him as such. Have you always loved God with all your heart? Have you loved you neighbor, even your enemies, as much as you love yourself? You be the judge. Will you be innocent or guilty on Judgment Day of breaking that Commandment? Scripture warns that no one has kept this commandment, and thus will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

2. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. This means that we shouldn’t make a god to suit ourselves, either with our hands or our mind. Is the God you believe in the One revealed in Holy Scripture? If not, then you have committed the oldest sin in the Book – idolatry. The second commandment requires pure worship, as well as the receiving, observing, and keeping of God’s Word. Scripture warns that idolaters will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

3. “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.Have you ever used God’s name in vain. Ever used it as a curse word? Ever said “Oh my g-d”, or J C? Osama Bin Laden’s name isn’t even despised enough to use as a curse word. If you have used His holy name in that manner, you are a blasphemer. The third commandment requires the holy and respectful use of God’s names, titles, attributes, and His Word. Scripture warns that blasphemers will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

4. “Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy.” Have you always kept the Sabbath Day holy? Have you made it to church every Sunday? Have you ever neglected the things of God? The fourth commandment requires keeping one whole day in seven to be a holy Sabbath day of rest, public and private worship, reflection, and study to God. Scripture warns that those who neglect God will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

5. “ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.Have you always honored your parents in a way that’s pleasing in the sight of God? The fifth commandment also requires us to honor all people, whether they are our superiors or not, in their various positions and relationships. Scripture warns that those who break this commandment of God will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

6. “Thou shalt not murder.” The sixth commandment forbids senseless murder. However, according to Scripture even if we slander others, or get angry without cause Jesus warned that we are in danger of judgment. If we hate our brother, God sees us as a murderer. Scripture warns that murderers will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

7. “Thou shalt not commit adultery. The Scriptures say that even if we look with sexual desire we are an adulterer in the sight of God. The seventh commandment forbids all sexually immoral thoughts, words, and actions. Remember that God has seen every thought you have had and every sin you have ever committed. Scripture warns that fornicators (those who have sex before marriage) and adulterers will not enter the Kingdom of God.

8. “Thou shalt not steal.” Have you ever stolen anything regardless of its value? That would make you are a thief. Scripture warns that thieves will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

9. “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” How many lies do you think you have told in your lifetime? How many lies do you have to tell to be a liar? Just one. The ninth commandment demands total honesty in though, word, and deed. Scripture warns that all liars will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

10. “Thou shalt not covet.” This means we shouldn’t desire anything that belongs to somebody else. The tenth commandment forbids all discontentment’s with what we have, and condemns all emotions and affections of envy, greed, jealousy, and resentment toward anything that belongs to somebody else. Scripture warns that the covetous will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

(Exodus 20: 3-17)

What if… God gave you justice?

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15

8“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”” Revelation 21:8

9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

10he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11“And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night” Revelation 14:10-11

3And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” Revelation 15:3-4

What if… God could not overlook your sin and still be just?

15He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” Proverbs 17:15

What if… What if…

God made a way for you to be forgiven and still be just at the same time?

6For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.” Romans 5:6-9

“…The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15

13He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” Proverbs 28:13

“…repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance.”

Acts 26:20

26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:26-27

17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17

TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!
